Chin mudra and Chinmaya mudras for being healthy

Yoga is an ancient science. It is a superficial arrangement for breathing techniques for calming and relaxation. The aim of doing yoga postures skilfully makes us more aware of the body. With yoga techniques one can improve the relationship between body and the mind. It builds a good breathing system. While discovering the importance of yogic practice, it dawns its subtle effect on body, mind and consciousness starts experiencing. Yoga mudras are understood as healing modality.
Mudras are used in combination of breathing exercises. They enliven the flow of prana in the body by stimulating different parts of the body involved with breathing. It is directly related to the nerves.
Here are few essential yoga mudras you can try to experience their effect:
Chin Mudra: The thumb and index finger has to touch together to form Chin mudra. You should not apply excess pressure. While the thumb and index fingers touch, you keep the other three fingers extended. Try to keep the three fingers as straight as possible. The hands should be placed on the thighs, facing upwards. Observe the flow of breath. The benefits of chin mudra include improving sleep pattern, increasing the energy in the body, improvement in concentration power and alleviating lower backache.
Chinmaya Mudra: People usually get confused between chinmaya mudra and chin mudre. In chinmaya mudra the thumb and forefinger form a ring, while the three remaining fingers are curled on the palms of the hands. Again for chinmaya mudra, the hands should be placed on the thighs with palms facing upwards. Take deep breaths and observe the flow of breath and effects of this mudra. Benefits of this mudra are stimulating digestion and improving flow of energy in the body.
Adi Mudra: For this mudra, the thumb should be placed at the base of the small finger and the remaining fingers curl over the thumb, forming a light fist. Palms should again be placed facing upwards on the thighs. Take deep breaths. Benefits of Adi Mudra are that it increases the capacity of the lungs, relaxes the nervous system, and improves the flow of oxygen to the head. For those who snoring complaints this is an excellent mudra to reduce snoring.
